Micro Enterprise -

MAHARASHTRA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

Micro Enterprise

Micro-Enterprise at MIT is a new way of thinking about resources and responsibility. MIT is setting up laboratories and facilities to render some service of value to the industry or community. This can be to develop a product or find solutions. The user takes responsibility to use resources productively and generate some surplus. In this sense, microenterprise encourages people to be responsible for what they do with the resources given to them. It rewards performers by giving them the authority to spend the resources they generated.

“It is a Micro Idea with Macro Impact”

MIT CARS, formerly known as the MIT Soil & Water Testing Laboratory, Aurangabad, was established at the Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Aurangabad, in 2006, with the support and registration of the Department of Agriculture, Government of Maharashtra.

Aim

Provide testing & research services to industry, researcher, and farmers at a global level

Objectives

Preparing center for catering services through international accreditation and recognition of CPCB, MOEF, BIS, ISO, FSSAI, FDA, FAO, and other national and international agencies

Facilities & Infrastructure

MIT Aurangabad houses various major analytical instruments, operated and maintained by a dedicated and qualified team of faculty and students. It is an integral part of MIT Aurangabad and operates for providing services to farmers & industry due to its ultramodern facilities and state-of-art infrastructure.

MIT Aurangabad established a highly sophisticated mobile soil-water facility from the support of the Ministry of Agriculture & Cooperation, Government of India, under the Program of National Sustainable Agriculture Programme. The laboratory completed testing of 25000 soil samples of the Marathwada region under the National Agriculture Development Program under the Government of India. The laboratory is equipped with ICP-OES, AAS, UV-Spectrophotometer, GCMS, HPLC.

The Shimadzu Analytical Testing Laboratory is established at the Department of Plastics & Polymer Engineering in collaboration with Shimadzu(Asia-Pacific), Singapore. The laboratory is equipped with modern testing instruments for R&D and consultancy services to industries. The laboratory is equipped with FTIR, UV-VIS, DSC & TGA.

Opportunities/ Highlights/ Achievements

The center has undertaken many assignments and projects in the context of the national soil health mission. In 2015, the government had given a state-level grade to centre. The centre established a mobile soil testing laboratory with the financial support of Central Government in 2015. The center creates many entrepreneurs through training of skill development and provide job opportunity to students under the Earn and Learn scheme since 2006.

M-CIP stands for MIT-Center for Industry Relevance in Polymer Science and Technology.

In M-CIP, students not only get the technical skill of handling machines that the industry currently uses but get trained in the core skill of communication across and within as well as professional skill expected of them. They learn about Quality Standards, Manufacturing standards and Policies, Safety policies, assurance and control, and different ways and means to achieve these. Training in safety at the workplace is an integral part of skill development courses at MIT, Aurangabad.

Objectives

1.Enhancing employability in the area of plastic engineering through skill development training and manufacturing support

2.Encouraging entrepreneurship to students and newcomers

With this goal, MIT, Aurangabad, has established state of the art infrastructure, MIT-Center for Industry Relevance in Polymer Science and Technology (M-CIP)- an industry scale plastic manufacturing plant to nurture young talents with an entrepreneurial and global mindset.
